The pencil pleat is a traditional curtain heading that creates tightly gathered folds running across the top of the curtain. It is the most popular heading style and works with any curtain track or pole.
Pencil pleat curtains are a versatile choice that suits both traditional and modern interiors. The gathered heading provides good coverage and a classic look that never goes out of style.
Wave curtains create uniform, S-shaped folds that give a sleek, contemporary look. The wave heading is exclusive to Silent Gliss tracks and poles, and is designed to create a consistent, elegant appearance across the full width of your curtains.

80mm Wave — wider S-shaped folds for a luxurious, flowing appearance. This is the most popular wave option and creates the signature hotel-style look.

60mm Wave — tighter S-shaped folds for a more compact stack when open. Only available with a pair (centre-opening) layout.
Pencil pleat curtains work with any curtain track or pole, including Silent Gliss 5100, 5600, Metropole, and third-party tracks.
Wave curtains require a track or pole with a wave glider system. Compatible tracks include:
- Silent Gliss Autoglide 5100 (with wave gliders)
- Silent Gliss 5600 (wave gliders included)
- Silent Gliss Metropole (with wave gliders)
- Other Silent Gliss tracks with wave capability
If your track does not have wave gliders installed, you will need to order wave gliders separately or choose pencil pleat heading instead.
We offer two ranges of Silent Gliss curtain fabric — Colorama 1 and Colorama 2. Both are made from high-quality polyester with excellent drape and light-filtering properties.
Colorama 1
The Colorama 1 range offers a wide selection of colours in a versatile dimout fabric. Great light filtering with a soft, natural feel. Ideal for living rooms and bedrooms where you want to reduce light without full blackout.
Colorama 2
The Colorama 2 range features a premium texture with a slightly heavier weight. The fabric has a beautiful natural appearance and drapes beautifully, making it perfect for formal living spaces and dining rooms.
Both fabric ranges are available in the fabric selector when configuring your curtains. You can view swatches, see pricing for your chosen dimensions, and order free fabric samples.

Can I order curtains without buying a track?
Yes! This page is specifically for customers who already have a curtain track and just need made-to-measure curtains. Simply enter your existing track width and we will make the curtains to fit.
How do I measure my curtain drop?
Measure from the top of your track to where you want the curtains to finish (usually 1cm above the floor or sill). Deduct 1cm for clearance.
What is the difference between 60mm and 80mm wave?
The number refers to the distance between each wave fold. 80mm wave creates wider, more flowing folds and is the most popular choice. 60mm wave creates tighter folds with a more compact stack when open, but is only available with a pair (centre-opening) layout.
Do I need wave gliders for wave curtains?
Yes. Wave curtains require special wave gliders installed in your track. If you purchased a track from us with wave heading, the gliders are already included. If your existing track does not have wave gliders, choose pencil pleat instead.
What is the stack depth?
Stack depth is how much space the curtain takes up from front to back when fully open. A larger stack depth means the curtain protrudes further from the wall when stacked. Choose based on the clearance available at your track.
What lining should I choose?
No lining gives the lightest curtain with the most natural drape. Standard lining adds body and improves light filtering. Blackout lining blocks almost all light — ideal for bedrooms. Lining adds 10% (standard) or 15% (blackout) to the fabric price.
